nsb  Autobiography.

My name is Max. I suffer from a powerful compulsion to make things.

My chronic condition has led me to the hallowed halls of National Public Radio in Washington, where I spend my days designing apps & other digital experiences aligning closely with said compulsion. Nights are spent changing diapers in Old Town and desperately trying to stitch a solid night’s sleep together. And obsessively screwing around with this site.

I grew up in rural Massachusetts, in a town with a handful of stoplights.

I interned at a small advertising agency in Providence during college, drawing TV storyboards and designing classified ads. At the end of my internship, they hooked me by offering triple what I was making serving omelets in the dorm cafeteria. Thus, I spent the next twelve years as an advertising “creative,” mostly making interactive experiences, but also crafting the occasional TV spot or print ad.

As mentioned above, I recently shifted to a far less profitable but more personally fulfilling career path.
